Canada's National Ukrainian Festival is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, and if you are thinking about attending and saving a few bucks at the same time, you are rapidly running out of time to do so.

Early bird ticket prices are in effect until this Friday, and CNUF President Kayla Gillis says ticket sales have been very strong so far.

"I would say we have sold as many tickets (so far this year) as we did by July of last year.  People are coming, it is our 60th anniversary and people are excited.  But we are also having a huge price increase when it comes to tickets bought after Friday.  So guys... $125 get your tickets before the 31st of January."

"Gillis says they are also down to less than 50 upper camping spots for that weekend.

She adds ticket prices will go up significantly if you do not purchase them by Friday's deadline.

"Think of it if you are buying tickets for a family of four, you are looking at about $600 right now.  After Friday it will be closer to $800-$850.  So if I were you, I would get your tickets before  too long."

Tickets are available online at cnuf.ca, in person at their office on 3rd Avenue North East, or by calling 204-622-4600.

The 60th edition of CNUF is set for August 1st to 3rd.

The city is cautioning residents in the area of Mountain Road and Edgar Avenue about the quality of their tap water.

They say because of the recent use of a fire hydrant in that area, residents near there may notice a discolouration of their tap water.

If you do encounter dirty water, you are encouraged to run your cold water tap - preferably in the bathtub - until the water clears.

Are you a fan of The Amazing Race and have always wanted to participate?

Well, you're in luck. Shawn Sarkonak at the Countryfest Community Cinema recently announced that the Amazing Race Dauphin will take place later this month.

"A group of us here at the CCC sat down and brainstormed what it could look like," said Sarkonak. "We thought it would be a great way to revitalize people coming to the cinema. We wanted to do a fun-filled movie-style challenge fundraiser."

If you think you have what it takes to race, get yourself a partner and get ready to race. Only 10 teams will be accepted and to be in consideration, you and your partner must submit a video telling organizers why you should get one of the team spots.

"It will be one day and those 10 teams will go in 10 different challenges around the city and outside of it as well looking for clues and going through movie-inspired challenges," said Sarkonak.

It's $250 per contestant which means your team entry will be $500. Your team is also encouraged to raise money and the team that raises the most will win a great prize, to be announced at a later date.

The real question is, do you have what it takes to conquer the Amazing Race Dauphin?

"The winning team will have the ultimate bragging rights," ended Sarkonak. "It's a way to get into the community and learn more about it. It's going to be a ton of fun and you'll also be supporting the cinema, so it's a win-win."

If you think you have what it takes, head to Amazing Race Dauphin to apply.

A Talented Composer and product of Dauphin is set to be showcased by the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra tonight.

Nic Bray grew up in Dauphin and gained a love of music through learning the saxophone and playing with local school and community bands.

Bray notes that growing up in Dauphin defined many of his core musical principles.

"A majority of my compositional conceptions, the values I hold dearest to my heart that have to do with music really all come from community-based musics and less from this Western art classical setting, and I really try to bring those values into everything that I'm doing like composition work and working with orchestras as well".

After recently winning the 2025 Emerging Composers Competition, Bray will continue his education and work towards his Master's degree in composition at Brandon University.

His Riding Mountain Park inspired piece "Spruce" will be performed tonight at the Winnipeg New Music Festival at 7 pm.
