Rural supplies in the Sugarloaf Area, near Grandview, are currently under a boil water advisory.

Due to an unexpected draining of the treated water reservoir on February 24th, water pressure dropped, leading to potential health and safety issues.

It is currently recommended that all water being used in the Sugarloaf Public Water System is brought to a rolling boil for at least a minute.

This would include any water being used for cooking, consumption, tooth brushing, etc.

You can apply for your card online, as well as by mail or in person.

A digital version will also be made available later this year.

The Town of Swan River has announced it is implementing a Residential Lead Monitoring Program, in conjunction with the Provincial Office of Drinking Water.

As part of that, they are looking for 20 homeowners in Swan River who are interested in taking part in the program, which would see water samples collected from their homes and tested for lead levels.

Although the general water chemistry for the Town indicates lead levels are well below the maximum limits in the Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines, there could be higher levels in homes with older internal plumbing.

Homeowners interested in participating in the program are asked to contact the Town of Swan River at 204-734-4586 extension 9, or by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Preference will be given to home-based daycares and houses built before 1990 with children younger than 6 years old in those homes.

The Coldest Night of the Year Fundraiser will take to the streets this Saturday at the Dauphin Friendship Center.

This year's proceeds go towards the " Food For Thought Program" something DFC's Jarri Thompson is deeply passionate about.

"It is extremely important. we face a lot of food insecurity in our community, and I'm not sure everyone's aware of that. Myself included, I didn't know how bad it was until I started to work for Food for Thought, and I started talking to those teachers and students"

CNOY's Mission Statement is to support people " experiencing hurt, hunger, and homelessness" because no one deserves to be left out in the cold.

The Food For Thought Program provides meals for students, ensuring they have the nourishment they need to focus and learn better throughout the day.

Thompson notes that it takes a community to make it work.

"When we get involved when we come together as a community, we're able to spread the money around and it goes that much further"

You can donate online by searching for Dauphin on CNOY.org, and you can show your support at the walk Saturday night, by getting to the Friendship Center for 4 pm.
