The only downfall to summer has got to be mosquitoes, but Public Works in Dauphin says there is something residents can do to help out to have fewer of them around.
Director of Public Works & Operations, Bill Brenner says that if you were to clear away all the standing water on your property or around the neighbourhood, it could help.
"So the less amount of breeding grounds available, the less amount of eggs that can be laid and mosquitoes that can hatch."
Standing water could be any little puddle, a cup filled with water sitting outside, or any toys lying outside that have water in them.
Brenner adds they have been approved for a Larviciding program to help kill mosquito larvae, that will start once the rain has stopped.
