The Dauphin Kings played one of their better home games of the season Friday night as they beat the Selkirk Steelers 4-3 at Credit Union Place.

The Dauphin Regional Health Centre says its front entrance will be temporarily closed Monday night.

A fundraiser at a Dauphin church on Sunday exceeded expectations.

A fundraising brunch was held at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Dauphin, with funds going towards the erection of a bronze Compassion statue.

Local UCWL president Shirley Novalkowski says they had over 157 people attend and raised more than $10,000.

The Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Dauphin sponsored $2,800 for the brunch.

The Compassion statue is expected to be unveiled sometime next summer.

-------

Previously, CKDM had reported that only a portion of the funds raised was going towards the statue, but instead, all of the money raised will be donated. Also, Shirley Novalkowski is the President of the UCWL of Dauphin, not of the Ukrainian Catholic Church.

The Dauphin Kings scored four unanswered goals in the second period en route to their first win on the road since November 15th, a 7-3 decision over the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday night.
