Mossey River Municipality is reporting another successful year for its Christmas Hamper program.
In a post on their Facebook page, they say over $4,000 was raised this year.
That money will be distributed to those in need by way of food vouchers to be used within the municipality.
They want to thank community members, students, local church groups, firefighters, and local businesses and staff who all contributed this year.
A special thank you was also extended to Dauphin Ford and Dean Cooley GM for toy donations to the program.

No one was injured as the Winnipegosis Fire Department (WFD) responded to a structure fire on Thursday.
Just before 7:00 p.m., crews arrived at a home where it was noticed that flames were coming out of the window and smoke from every opening. No one was in the building and after knocking down the flames, they entered the building and extinguished the remaining hotspots.
The fire was contained to the bedroom area and there was significant damage to the home.
The WFD thanked the RCMP for helping contain the area and EMS for looking out for the firefighters on the scene.

Manitoba's auditor General has released details on the Provincial Government's Financial Statements and cyber security.
Auditor General Tyson Shtykalo's first report notes that Manitoba Shared Health has a process to respond to cyberattacks but has not been running tests for ransomware or data theft scenarios.
Such digital attacks can steal information, or hold access to that information hostage until a payment is made.
The second report looked at the provincial government's financial report for the 2023-24 fiscal year, which included a deficit of just under $2 billion.
The report said there were unprecedented errors in the financial information prepared for the audit, which needed correcting.
The government pointed to a lack of trained finance professionals through a loss of senior staff members.

Mossey River Municipality is cautioning residents in Winnipegosis that Public Works crews will be working on widening roads in that community tomorrow.
Residents in Winnipegosis are being asked to make sure that their vehicles and OSS bins are not on the streets that day.
They thank everyone in the community for their support and assistance.

Two court matters from Swan River were back on the docket this week.
40-year-old Tyrone Guiboche, who was one of two people charged with Manslaughter in connection with a January stabbing along Main Street in that community, had his matters adjourned until June 25th.
His co-accused, 29-year-old Dean Bell, is slated to return to court on January 17th in Winnipeg.
Meanwhile, one of three people charged after a November armed robbery on Sapotaweyak Cree Nation was also back in court.
27-year-old Cheyenne Cook had his matters put over until January 15th.

A very generous donation has been made to the Dauphin and District Food Bank from the local McDonalds restaurant.
Their recent Golden Arches Gives Back promotion collected 4,000 food items for the Food Bank.
No final number has been released yet as far as monetary donations through the campaign.
In a Facebook post, the Food Bank thanked McDonald's and local residents for their generosity.
Today is intake day at the Food Bank as they hand out their Christmas hampers.

RCMP Major Crime Services have released the name of the man charged in relation to a shooting death at Ebb & Flow on Sunday.
They have charged 53-year-old Cyril St. Paul with one count of Manslaughter.
Police believe this was a targeted incident and that there is no threat to public safety.
St. Paul has been remanded into custody.
Investigators are asking the public if they have any information in relation to this, to contact Ste. Rose RCMP detachment at 204-447-3082.

The RCMP is pleased to announce that Woodford has been located.
They thank the public for their assistance.
The Ashern RCMP is looking for a missing 41-year-old female from that community.
Crystal Woodford was last seen on December 13 in Lundar, after being dropped off at a business along Highway 6, and she has not been heard from since.
Woodford is described as 5’5” tall, 140lbs, with a mostly shaved head with hair about an inch long, brown eyes, and wearing a black winter jacket with black sweatpants.
She may be in Winnipeg, Lundar, Eriksdale or Fairford. If you see her, contact the Ashern RCMP at 768-2311.

The City has responded to the recent reporting of the Rural Municipalities' proposal, giving details to their rejection of it.
Mayor David Bosiak, raised concerns with the recent proposal.
"We held a special meeting to look over the proposal, and although we were very satisfied to see that the RM acknowledged that proportional funding for Rec Commission is fair, there was a tremendous amount of additional detail on restructuring the commission, and the composition of a new board that the council couldn't agree too"
He notes that while the per-capita funding is agreeable, The City does not agree with the 50/50 representation that the RM requested for the new board of DRS.
Bosiak was also surprised by the re-negotiations of Dauphin Fire Services in the proposal, saying "Let's talk about Recreation separately from the fire department".
He includes over 30 agreements between the City and the RM, including Those Regarding Recreation, Fire Services, Water, Landfill use, and more.
Mayor Bosiak states he's happy to discuss any of the other agreements, but not in the same proposal.

The province is providing $658,000 in grant money to be shared between 12 groups towards walking, cross-country skiing and snowmobile trail repairs across Manitoba.
The funding was supported through an annual fee for registered off-road vehicles collected by Manitoba Public Insurance at the same time as annual registration.
Two local snowmobile groups are among those receiving funding.
North Mountain Riders are receiving $100,000 to repair snowmobile trails north of Swan River, while the Ashern Snowmobile Club 2008 will get $78,000 for trail repair work in the Ashern area.
The provincial government has also declared that February 8th of next year will be Manitoba Winter Trails Day.
