January is Alzheimer's Awareness Month, a time in which stories from those affected by the disease are brought to the fore to help raise awareness and end the stigma around dementia.
Dauphin resident Tom Carberry, whose wife has Alzheimer's, says it's hard to bring yourself to the realization that something drastic is happening to a loved one.
"We've been living with it for about 17 years now and we currently don't live together anymore. It clearly is an increasing problem in society."
For this week, Dauphin's MR MIKES will donate one dollar from every steak dinner sold to the Alzheimer`s Society of Manitoba.
