Mountain View School Division's Board of Trustees met last night for the first time in nearly a month due to poor weather.
The board reviewed a survey sent out to the community back in 2013 about making Mackenzie Middle School a 6-8 school, or keeping Smith-Jackson K-8 for next year.

Superintendent and CEO Donna Davidson said the survey was fairly split, but a decision had to be made.

"The board has decided that it would move forward with Smith-Jackson's school becoming a K-5 school, like other schools in the community of Dauphin. Mackenzie Middle School will become a 6 through 8 triple track with English programming, Ukrainian Heritage Language programming and French immersion programming."

Students graduating from grade's five or six from Smith Jackson will be heading to Mackenzie Middle School next September.
