A fire that damaged a home adjacent to the Fas Gas this morning, is said to have begun in the shed of the gas station.

Owner of the Fas Gas here in Dauphin, Rashid Noor said, "The shed was targeted, by the time I arrived here at around 7:30 am it was completely destroyed."

Noor says the shed in the past has been vandalized before but nothing to this extent. He claims security footage shows individuals trying to light the shed on fire, and then attempted to use one of the nozzles from the gas pumps to spread it further.

Thankfully all the gas pumps were turned off at this point says Noor, however the fire quickly spread engulfing the side of the home alongside the shed.

Dauphin Fire Chief, Cam Abrey says, "It was before 3:30 this morning when Dauphin Fire was dispatched with reports of a shed on fire, and while trucks were on route 911 updated that the fire had spread to the nearby house...upon arrival we were met by the RCMP who notified us that everyone had been evacuated from the home."

Abrey reiterated the importance of working smoke alarms, as the home was not equipped with any during the time of the blaze.

Noor speculates damages to cost roughly between $8,000 - $10,000 dollars.
