If you didn't hear already, fish flies have taken over the streets of Gimli.
Public Works Chairman for the RM of Gimli, Danny Luprypa says they are plentiful, but this hasn't been the worst case.
"I recall in the 90's we've had to use tandem truck and loaders to take them off the main street of town. Our main street is 1st Avenue, which is close to the lake, so that's where they're most abundance."
The flies are diminishing now and not as bad as they used to be but, the flies are attracted to light so Luprypa says that in the evening the town has been turning off their street lights.
"Certainly we are making the news." adds Luprypa.
Every morning they do street sweeping to help with the clean up.
