Manitoba is entering negotiations to become part of the New West Partnership.
The trade agreement was formed in 2010 between BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, but at the time, Manitoba decided not to join.
Minister of Growth, Enterprise and Trade Cliff Cullen says coming on board with the other Western provinces will mean good things for all of Manitoba's business people.
"Certainly, part of it is going to be reducing red tape and bureaucracy around government. That will benefit everybody, and this is one step towards enhancing our people and our business community to do some business and do some trade."
Cullen says that means bringing a lot of similar-minded Canadians together.
"I think Western Canadians share a lot of the same visions, the same opportunities, and we look forward to working with our counterparts to the west.
Premier Brian Pallister hopes to have the deal finalized within his first 100 days in office.
