There are three opportunities for people in Dauphin to donate blood this summer.
Canadian Blood Services have been planning to set up a donation clinic on the weekend of August 22 and 23 for a while now, but just another announced this week for June 20.
Director of Donor Relations Tracy Smith says adding the extra day is part of a larger movement for the organization.
"Throughout the country, this year, we're looking at recruiting over 100,000 new donors this year. This will be a great clinic for anyone who's thought of donating blood before to come by and give it a try."
Smith says a single donation can go a long way.
"A single donor, we always say, can save up to three lives, but you're really giving life to anyone around the country because that unit of blood can be used for a variety of patient needs."
Smith says you do not have to make an appointment to donate blood, but it is recommended. As well, anyone who has already scheduled appointments for the August clinics can have them moved to the one in June if they wish.
There are a few exceptions with who can donate. Smith says donors must be at least 17 years old and in general good health. For full eligibility requirements, you can take the full eligibility quiz here.
All three donation clinics will take place at the St. Viator's auditorium in Dauphin.
