The benefits of practicing medicine in rural communities, and the available lifestyle opportunities in those areas will be on display this weekend for 75 medical students from the University of Manitoba.
Members of the university's medical student Rural Interest Group will be in Brandon and Killarney this weekend, where they will be split into groups to take part in clinical workstations.
45 of the students will head to Brandon, while 30 will travel to Killarney.
Prairie Mountain Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Adrian Fung says the RIG workshop weekend provides the health region with additional opportunities to engage medical students early in their training.
It is the first of two RIG Workshop Weekends being planned for Prairie Mountain Health.
Another 20-24 students will participate in a similar event from February 7th to 9th in Swan River.
