It will be a night to remember.
The Dauphin Kings are excited to host Ukrainian Night on Saturday at Credit Union Place as the Virden Oil Capitals come to town. Widely regarded as one of the most exciting games of the season, more than 1500 tickets have already been sold and cost just $5.
You can purchase tickets from 1 to 6 today at the South Ticket Office inside Credit Union Place and beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday leading up to game time.
"The thing with people coming in the last couple of days, they're not buying one or two tickets, they're buying for big groups," said Christian Laughland, Director of Business Operations. "They're $5 for all ages so it's really easy to just come in and get a few at a time and that's what people have been doing, it's very exciting."
While the game starts at about 7:35, the party gets going at 6:00. That's when the doors open and you are encouraged to show up early.
"We have Bratsva School of Dance performing when you come in near the stairs," said Kayla Gillis, president of Canada's National Ukrainian Festival. "We have the Drifting Cossacks as well. Then the food, between Ukrainian Smak and Monica at Temptations, there will be some delicious food. So come early and get ready for a night to remember."
When the puck drops, fans will be entertained as two very good clubs go up against each other. Riding a four-game win streak, having scored 29 goals in the process, Dauphin is six points up on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for first place in the MGEU West Division, with a game in hand. It will be two games in hand after tonight as the Blizzard is in Winkler to play Jayce Legaarden and the Flyers on Friday night.
The Virden Oil Capitals, meanwhile, are in a heated race for the fourth and final playoff spot with Waywayseecappo.
