Marketfest Has Arrived
The 12th installment of Dauphin's Marketfest has officially kicked off.
Running from 11 am - 4 pm at the Selo Ukraina Site, residents will have the opportunity to see and purchase a number of hand made items from home based businesses.
Theresa Zabiaka who's a board member with Selo Ukraina, says the event is a great way to get a jump start on some early Christmas shopping.
The assorted items for sale include jewelry, candles, soaps, and jams to name a few.
Admission is $3 dollars, children 12 and under get in for free.

Manitoba Justice Minister Speaks Out About High Incarceration Rates
A spokeswoman for Manitoba Justice Minister Heather Stefanson says the high rates of incarceration in the province are concerning and work needs to be done to lower them.
The provincial justice department's recently released annual report says 240 Manitoba adults per 100 000 were behind bars in 2014 - 2015, far exceeding the figure in most other provinces.
Saskatchewan had the second-highest rate at 195 per 100 000, followed by Alberta with 102 per 100 000.
Manitoba had 260 youth behind bars per 100-thousand population, while the Canadian average was 60 per 100 000.

Veterans Affairs Office Re-Opens In Brandon
A Veterans Affairs office in Brandon, Manitoba, is open again after being closed by the former Conservative government.
The office was one of nine offices closed by the Tories in 2014, and the Liberals say all will be reopened by sometime next year.
Legion Branch Number Three president Garry Andrew says the reopening means veterans will get personal contact with staff, as opposed to contact over a computer.
The office will serve approximately 24-hundred Veterans in the area.

A Heritage Classic To Remember
Two of hockey's young superstars will meet today in Winnipeg.
Rookie Patrick Laine and the Winnipeg Jets host Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers at the outdoor Heritage Classic at Investors Group Field this afternoon.
The game caps a weekend of hockey festivities in Winnipeg, the Jets defeated the Oilers yesterday 6-5 in the alumni game.
