The Province is currently investigating a fish dealer, who left four Interlake fisheries out close to $1 million.

The sale of fish on the open market was introduced this past year allowing fishers to be more competitive.

“We have launched a full investigation,” stated Minister of Sustainable Development, Rochelle Squires.  “We take these allegations incredibly seriously.  I’m having a meeting with Northern Walleye myself.  There’s a lot of information and misinformation out there.  We want to get truth and we want to get the facts and get to the bottom of this.  We will take appropriate action when all the details have been uncovered thoroughly in our internal investigation of this fish dealer.”

The minister plans to meet with fishers in the Interlake region to discuss the situation.
