Winds gusts of up to 90 km/h or higher are expected to develop over the Parkland tomorrow. For farmers who are burning in their fields, Chief Administrative Officer of the RM of Dauphin, Laura Murray, reminds them to be safe when burning.
"The municipality issues burning permits, anyone getting a burning permit is required to do their upmost to keep things safe and make sure that the fire is in control, in their control. They need to burn when it is safe to burn. If they know the winds are going to be gusting, they shouldn't be burning. They should have protection available with them, water on hand, have their are fire guarded so if the wind does change they can be prepared. We always expect that a person will not light a fire when the wind is extreme."
An intense low-pressure system is forecast to track through the Parkland over the next few days mainly on Wednesday. The weather statement is in effect for Gilbert Plains, Grandview, Mossey River Municipality including Winnipegosis, Ethelbert, Roblin, Russell- Binscarth, and the RM of Dauphin.
