This Thursday is the Grandmothers Protecting Our Children Sacred Walk in Dauphin.
This is the seventh year for the walk to take place in the area.
Adrienne Joynson, a respected Elder, explains when and where the walk is to take place.
“The walk begins on the 21 of September. There is a sunrise ceremony, which is a tobacco and water ceremony that begins 7:00 in the morning,” noted Joynson. “Then we prepare for 10:00 to walk from the Dauphin Friendship Centre, down First to Co-op, down Co-op to Main Street, Main Street up to Community Inn and back down to the Dauphin Friendship Centre where more will be explained over there and at the end of it there will be speakers there and a small sharing of food at the end.”
Everyone is welcome to participate.
