Riding Mountain National Park is planning to host the first pride week hosted by a National Park.
There will be a “Pride Yourself” station, where those who are in Wasagaming can meet up with local community organizations, get festive and colourful with flags, and participate in creative workshops.
Cal Martin, acting visitor experience manager for Riding Mountain National Park talks about why this year is the best time to hold the first pride event in a national park.
"This being Canada 150, and one of the themes is diversity and inclusiveness. We felt it was a perfect match to engage with a community that definitely benefits from more acknowledgement and connection with this area so we wanted to have an event that say hey Wasagaming and riding mountain national park is a safe community so lets help people with all stripes connect with nature in this beautiful area."
Pride week will be held September 5th to the 10th in Wasagaming.
