Manitoba Hydro announced the closing of 12 rural offices in Manitoba.
The Grandview Municipality was listed as one of these communities.
Grandview Municipal Mayor, Lyle Morran is concerned about the impact on the community.
"It's gonna make a big impact on the community, employee wise, safety wise. We all hate to lose any kind of business, but I think one of the big issues that is going to be a reality, I really wonder, in the long term, if they're going to save money because these people still have to be relocated to somewhere. There's going to have to be some major expansions built in other communities in the bigger centres to the people and the equipment. I'm concerned about things like if we have a fire now, how long, response time it'll be just to get someone to shut the power off."
Manitoba Hydro claims 20 employees will be re-assigned to different centres.
