The City of Dauphin and Manitoba Hydro have announced a partnership aimed at giving Dauphin residents the chance to reduce their energy bills.
As part of Canada 150 celebrations Dauphin's Community Energy Plan intends to enhance the community to be more energy efficient.
According to Dauphin Mayor Eric Irwin discussions surrounding the energy plan has been ongoing for a few years.
"I was able to work with the last provincial government in order to make Dauphin a pilot community for energy reduction, and hydro worked with us and they agreed to hire an energy advocate... He's rolling out some new programs that include free in home review of building installation, providing LED lights and water saving devices."
The project will involve engaging stakeholders in the creation and implementation of a Community Energy Plan, setting a guideline for lowering energy consumption throughout the community.
The community energy advocate assigned to the City of Dauphin for the project is Steven Sobering. For further information you can contact Sobering at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
