The RCMP's Holiday Checkstop initiative continues, with week one stats released.
From December 2nd to this Monday, Manitoba RCMP have performed 86 checkstops. Police say 33 people were charged with a Criminal Code impaired driving offence, with the highest blood/alcohol reading at .350.
Fourteen alcohol-related and two drug-related roadside suspensions were given and 662 other traffic-related charges were laid.
Last year, week one had 67 checkstops, with 25 people criminally charged for impaired driving.
