Warning

Southern Manitoba has recently been hit with dangerously cold temperatures over the weekend, but that could be ending soon.

Overnight low temperatures around -30 C felt more like -40 C in some areas across the Parkland says Environment Canada.

Local warning preparedness meteorologist Natalie Hasell with Environment Canada feels the extreme cold temperatures were caused by low pressure systems. She said,"We are in the picture now that there is a low off to our east, there's a ridge building to our west, so Manitoba is stuck in the circulation between these two."

There are currently no alerts in effect for the Parkland area says Environment Canada as extreme cold warnings were once previously authorized.

The forecast for today is a mix of sun and cloud with a high of -28 C feeling more like -37 C with the wind chill.
