An outbreak of mumps continues to affect Manitoba.

Provincial public health officials confirmed today that cases of mumps continue to be reported, and while the majority of cases are people between 17 to 29 years of age and are connected to the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg and Universite de St. Boniface, some cases differ.

Most of the people affected are students and live in Winnipeg, but with the holiday season approaching, the province is pointing out that students may be returning home and, if infected, could spread the illness.

Manitoba typically sees four to five cases of the mumps each year, but from September 1st to yesterday, 61 cases have been reported.
