Over 250 people gathered at the Ebb and Flow Community Complex last night to discuss the outbreak of the opiod drug Fentanyl.
The information session was led by Corporal Terry Harschall of the Ste. Rose RCMP, who answered any questions about the drug.
The general worry was how the drug was making its way into small towns.
Corporal Harschall believes the drug is making its way through the province through organized crime.
"Through the research that I've done, organized crime has started to introduce this into the other substances that are out there. You can't measure this stuff by the naked eye when it is used medically. It's used with scientific equipment that measures what the human body can tolerate."
The Fentanyl death toll in Manitoba has reached over two dozen this year, and is reportedly still rising.
