Resident and officials from five southwestern municipaities are asking for help in preventing illegal moose hunting.
On Monday evening, a crowd of more than 40 in attendance were at the Home Farmers Resto in Pipestone to discuss the spike in illegal poaching of area wildlife.
Councilor Scott Phillips in the RM of Sifton, says the moose population has been decimated and are asking the provincial government for help.
Phillips also identified that there is a 10 thousand square kilometre territory stretching northwest from the Manitoba-Saskatchewan-North Dakota border which is serviced by only two conservation officers stationed in Virden.
