Dauphin Rec Services could be operating on a tighter budget next year, with the RM announcing it will be contributing $250,000 to the DRS in 2017 -- $100,000 less than what it's currently providing.
The city and the RM both contribute to Dauphin Rec Services. Mayor Eric Irwin says it's the city's position that the RM should pay according to the same model they've been paying for years.
"For 25 years it has been on a per capita basis -- 21 per cent of the whole population -- and that's been the way it's been."
The RM says in a written release that a per capita based formula doesn't take into account the economic benefits the city gleans from rec services.
