Canada joining the Trans-Pacific Partnership would be good for Dauphin, according to our local MLA.
Brad Michaleski wrote a letter to the editor last week about the TPP, and the Progressive Conservatives' push to have the Legislative Assembly declare its support for joining it.
 
He says the TPP opens up more markets.
 
"Trade is pretty important and our resource sector is pretty important and our agriculture is pretty important and access to these markets and wanting to be involved in promoting and encouraging trade is something that we need to be doing in Manitoba. 
 
National Farmers Union president Jan Slomp says the NFU is in favour of trade, but increasingly sees trade agreements as false flag agreements that give foreign corporations blanket access to resources and services, and impedes democratic process.
