Dauphin Fire Chief is 2016 MAFC President
There's a couple Parklanders on the 2016 Executive for the Manitoba Association of Fire Chiefs.
Dauphin fire chief Cam Abrey has been named president and Swan River's Darren Fedorchuk is 2nd vice-president. Abrey was formerly 1st vice-president.
The MAFC held its annual trade show and conference in Dauphin this past weekend. It's the second time it's been held in Dauphin since 2014.

Jury in Sask Finds Lovers Guilty of Conspiring to Kill Partners
Two lovers who were accused of plotting to kill their spouses in Saskatchewan have been found guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.
The jury in Prince Albert took close to 30 hours before convicting Curtis Vey and Angela Nicholson yesterday.
Vey and Nicholson's lawyers told court their clients weren't serious about killing their spouses and didn't have any intention of doing so.
Court heard in the trial that Brigitte Vey hid an iPod under the kitchen table at their farmhouse and secretly recorded her husband and Nicholson hatching their plan.

Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Winnipeg
A spokesman for the Winnipeg Airports Authority says Air China, as well as their partner in Winnipeg, Air Canada, are investigating the cause of a malfunction that prompted a flight to make an emergency landing in the city.
Scott Marohn says the Air China Boeing 777 was carrying about 300 people from Washington DC to Beijing when it developed a problem with one of its two engines on Saturday evening.
Marohn says it was an emergency landing, but the plane landed safely.
The passengers and crew stayed in Winnipeg overnight while Air China flew in another aircraft.

MB Tourism Getting Funding Bump
The Manitoba government says it's going to spend an extra $3.4-million for tourism marketing and development.
Travel Manitoba CEO Colin Feguson says the province wants to continue expanding the strong brand Manitoba has developed through attractions like the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, Journey to Churchill and events like the NHL's Outdoor Classic hockey game that's coming to Winnipeg later this year.
Growth, Enterprise and Trade Minister Cliff Cullen announced the money while attending meetings with tourism industry representatives in Churchill on the weekend.
The province says Statistics Canada data shows Manitoba is visited by 11-million tourists every year, and those visitors spend $1.6-billion throughout the province.

Assisted Dying Law Deadline Passes
There is currently no law in place governing medically assisted dying in Canada.
A deadline the Supreme Court gave the federal government to draft a new law expired at midnight.
The High Court struck down the ban on medically assisted dying last year and gave Parliament a year to come up with a new law.
The court allowed the ban to remain in place for a year until the government could pass new legislation.
The grace period has now run out, and the Liberal's Bill C-14 is still before the Senate with a vote not expected before Friday.
