Canadian Centre for Child Protection (CCCP) has joined up with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) to work on a pilot project.
The pilot project, which will be starting up pretty soon, is to help enhance officer knowledge and training for identifying situations involving missing children.
Jessica Huzyk, who works in the Child Safety and Family Advocacy Division at CCCP say this project is only being launched in Manitoba.
"There are 17 ports in Manitoba so we are going to be working with the officers here, but our hope is that whatever take away's we have and everything that we've learnt we're hoping that we will be in a position to adapt those same advancements in other provinces across the country."
Huzyk says that CCCP will be in a position to be consulting with officers on different type of cases that they are seeing, so they are really excited about this project.
The CBSA says they have found more than 1,800 missing children since starting their "Our Missing Children" program in 1986.
