They're called the dolls of peace and there will be a presentation later this month about what they are and how their story started by an author who's originally from Dauphin.
Phyllis Wheaton is the author of the book "In the mood for peace : the story of the Izzy Doll".
She says it tells the story of how the Izzy Dolls first came to be thanks to a Canadian soldier on a peacekeeping mission in Croatia.
"It started actually in 1993 with Cpl. Mark Isfeld, his mother made him some dolls that he could give out to the children and he said "mom keep them coming, they're a big hit." He was getting a smile from doing something for the kids and the kids were getting great big smiles getting something back."
Wheaton says the dolls made out of yarn may not look like much, but they have made a huge difference.
"The doll has actually become called "the doll of peace" and that's why it's kinda fun to do something at Christmas time and organizations across Canada are doing Christmas trees that are decorated in Izzy Dolls because the doll is the doll of peace, so that's what we're gonna try and do too."
Wheaton says she's done numerous presentations about the Izzy Doll phenomenon across Canada, and says her presentation at the Dauphin library on November 25 will bring her back to her home area.
"We farmed there for many years, my kids grew up in the schools there, I know a lot of people there and right now I'm visiting relatives and we're working on some projects together. While I'm there I though "hmm, maybe I'll see if we can do some kind of show at the library. Plus, the book "In the mood for peace : the story of the Izzy Doll" is available in libraries from Halifax to Vancouver.
She says as part of her presentation, she'll be looking for people to be interested in helping set up an Izzy Doll decorated Christmas tree in the library.
