A man from Russell is dead after crashing into a drainage ditch during an off-road vehicle derby near Silverton.
Russell RCMP were told of a Utility Task Vehicle incident in the RM of Riding Mountain West around 5 yesterday evening.
RCMP say a 61-year-old Russell man was participating in an off-road derby when his UTV hit a drainage ditch head-on.
Police also say he was not wearing a helmet or seatbelt, and they believe alcohol and speed to be contributing factors.
No further information will be released.
