The DNRC Diverse-city program is all about gaining skills, building experience, and exploring opportunities.
According to Stacey Purdy, Program coordinator, this Youth Employment Readiness Program aims to bolster youth's ability to fill roles in Dauphin Jobs.
"You often hear that phrase 'how am I supposed to get experience when no one is willing to give me experience'. That's really the gap we're looking to fill. so we work on those essential skills, delving into more personal goals. we have some certificates, so some of our participants earn their first aid, their food handlers, as well as just basic customer service, time management, digital skills, math, English, where ever those gaps are, we aim to fill those."
This 11-week commitment will equip its participants with Myriad skills through 8 weeks of employment and skills training, and 3 weeks of practical work.
The best part, participants receive pay at the current provincial minimum based on their attendance and participation.
