Police are looking for information on a missing teenager from the RM of Alexander, about 110 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg.
Manitoba's agricultural industry is looking to take advantage of pulses like chickpeas, fava beans, and lentils.

Road Angel Entertainment/Warner Music Canada Artists Keith and Renee will release their album Feel Good Thing on January 20th with hometown show at Winnipegs Park Theatre January 31, 2015.

Keith and Renee’s latest project Feel Good Thing is a powerful 12-track CD that features songs written and produced over a three-year span during their Nashville, Toronto and Winnipeg visits. The album is packed with several superstar artists, writers and musicians who all played a significant role in the making of their best album to date. “This is a special album created by two gifted and wonderful people” says Jill Snell-de Cartier, Founder of Road Angel “I couldn’t be more proud to introduce people to their new music.”  Keith and Renee took time to write this gem throughout many of their trips across North America - utilizing their personal stories and significant life moments they have experienced.  This album is all about ‘feeling good’: ‘We wanted to get our best 12 songs that our fans could dance and sing to.  Life can be pretty tough and overwhelming sometimes if you get caught up in the negative.  We wanted to reach out and have an album that makes us feel good and sing at the top of our lungs so we can forget about the many stresses and focus on the fun.’

Made up of Keith Macpherson and Renee Lamoureux, the duo showcase their musical collaboration that combine the versatile talents between both.  They’ve toured with the likes of Jann Arden, Dean Brody, Dallas Smith and recently shared a stage with Zac Brown Band at Prairie Jam. Keith and Renee met at Renee’s church in Ile Des Chenes, MB when Keith asked her if she’d like to write a song with him.  What started as a brief encounter in a church, quickly developed into a musical duo when the two discovered their voices blended well; brought together by a common passion for music.  They have traveled across the globe taking part in events such as performing in Dubai for hundreds, playing for the Queen of England, winning a Western Canadian Music Award and having their song Good Year placed on an AT&T commercial.  They spent two summers in Kenya, Africa as ambassadors for Free the Children and toured across Canada performing in schools; inspiring youths to make a difference.  From that experience, David Suzuki chose their song The One to be featured on his Playlist of the Planet cd.  Recently, KnR took part in We Day with Free the Children performing for 16,000 youths and released their single Feel Good Thing to Canadian radio.  They supported award winning country band High Valley on their Western Canadian Countyline tour in the winter 2014.  Now, the duo is ready to launch their album Feel Good Thing commencing with a concert in their hometown of Winnipeg to kick it off.

The concert on January 31, 2015 is an all ages show and will take place at the Park Theatre in Winnipeg.  Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Label Celebrates First Signing With Manitoba Based Country Duo Petric

Following his win for Country Album of the Year at the 2015 JUNO Awards, Country star and multi-platinum selling artist Dallas Smith has much to celebrate, including the announcement of his newest venture; record label SteelHead Music. Together with partners Alex Seif (Union Entertainment Group) and Scott Cooke (Producer - Chase Rice, Cold Creek County), Smith is set to provide artists of all genres with a label home and platform to grow – giving back to the musical community that has supported him throughout his career thus far.

With over 15 years in the music business, the development and launch of a label was a natural progression for Smith, whose latest album “Lifted” garnered him a number of accolades and awards including a 2015 JUNO Award, a Sirius XM Indie Award, a #1 single for “Wastin’ Gas” and the platinum certification of hit single “Tippin’ Point”. “I'm in a fortunate and unique position to offer my knowledge and support to new artists just like others did for me when I was starting out.” says Smith. “Scott and Alex are both great friends and are very talented in what they do in this business. I'm excited to partner with them to bring new deserving artists a secure platform and home where they can learn, grow and succeed."

Armed with tenacity and poised for success, SteelHead Music revealed the label’s first signing will be Manitoba based sibling duo Petric.

Hailing from Transcona, Manitoba, Petric (who some of you saw and heard opening for Dallas SMith back in January at Credit Union Place) officially formed in March 2014, but their love of music and performing for live audiences actually began when, as young teenagers, brothers Jason and Tom decided to start a band. Performing throughout middle school and high school at local community and school events, the brothers quickly found their stride in front of ever-growing audiences.

After deciding to form Petric early last year, the duo has opened for such notable acts as Doc Walker and Gord Bamford and has performed at various industry events including a showcase during Country Music Week where they caught the attention of Smith and Cooke.

"The voices in Petric instantly grabbed my attention,” said Smith. Both have a raw natural vocal talent that you either have or you don't. We’re very excited to see where their careers take them and we’re even more excited to be a part of it."

Currently working on their debut release, the boys have been back and forth between home and Nashville, where they continue to work with hit writers and producers, blending their natural sibling harmony with their party-rocking, laid back vibe. Listen for the CKDM broadcast premiere of their first single “Here Goes Everything” soon. Listen to it now!

"...the main thing is that Matt Epp is simply one of the best of a generation of fine songwriters emerging in this country over the last decade or so, and carrying forward the torch of Canadian songwriting that goes back to Lightfoot, Mitchell, Young, Cohen and Cockburn. It’s what we’re really good at."
—Gary Cristall, Vancouver Folk Music Festival
Some people spend their whole lives searching for the path that might bring them home. But it’s often not just a single path that leads them there: one route can lead to another, which might lead to a long and winding road that drops you on the shore of a massive sea that you’ve no choice but to set sail on. The most important part of the voyage, regardless of which paths you take, is to know your true destination. And veteran troubadour Matt Epp knows his destination.

Matt’s existence has been in constant flux since he was a teenager, living everywhere from the desolate Prairies to the bustle of big cities, and hitchhiking all over Canada in between. This wealth of experience has turned him into one of the country’s best live acts and most valuable artistic exports, a rare performer with the ability to take you into his world and make you feel like, in an instant, a true friend. His knack for transforming theatres into living rooms is almost un-paralleled, and has translated to major touring success overseas. Matt is a genuine global ambassador, but resides in an empire of his own making: Amoria, a spiritual space built on the message to love and serve one another. His band, the Amorian Assembly, provides the sonic muscle to deliver that message across countries, whole continents, and most importantly, hearts.

But after eight records of world-class songwriting, constant national and international touring, a loving and dedicated fan base, and building himself into a well-oiled music machine, Matt knew it was time to explore a new path. And that path bas been providing the inspiration for his most electrifying and heart-wrenching music to date.

With Ready In Time, produced by award-winning producer Rusty Matyas (The Sheepdogs, Imaginary Cities), Matt Epp continues working through the artistic rejuvenation he began with Luma. The record packs big sounds and ideas into its relatively short length, like the orchestral pop of “Let Her Know”, a McCartney-esque thrill ride, and the pensive, 80s-inspired big city groove of “Cash & Blood”. Epp’s incomparable gift for storytelling shines clear through the heavy, fuzzed-out overdrive of the title track and the nostalgic Americana of quiet goodbye anthem “Hard To Say”, a memoir his grandfather’s immigration to Canada. Ready In Time reaches its shimmering pinnacle with the piano-driven “North Star”, an uplifting, masterful ode to following your own path to your true home. Epp explores his latest personal journey using both concise and broad brush strokes, painting his most fully-realized work to date: A piece of art not only incredibly personal and singular, but also one that any human being can feel a part of themselves in. As with all of Epp’s albums, Ready In Time challenges the listener to see their world, their community, their loves with open eyes, and to do right by them.

Through 2015-16, Matt will be taking that challenge alongside numerous audiences and new friends around the world on his tour for Ready In Time.
