Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship is trying to control and maintain a zebra mussel invasion.
Zebra mussels have been found in the south basin of Lake Winnipeg and the Manitoba portion of the Red River, and yesterday the North Dakota Game and Fish Department announced zebra mussels had been found in several locations between North Dakota and Minnesota.
According to Manitoba Conservation, at this point, you can't really get rid of them, but you also don't want to transfer them to other bodies of water.
Everyone is asked to do their part and monitor what they put into water.
