Tanner Vestby is one of the top golfers at the Swan River Golf & Country Club and he's backed that up by finishing in the top three of the Club Championship on multiple occasions.

Playing to a +3 handicap, Tanner has shot many rounds under par over the years and this year, but he has never gotten over the hump by winning a Club title. It's always been his goal and as the years have gone on, frustration has continued to build as he chased his first-ever Club Championship title, but that wait is no longer for the native of Swan River.

Vestby posted a 75 which has been good enough to win a title after 18 holes in the past. This year; however, 18 holes weren't enough. Derek Chez and Eldon Patzer both shot a 75 as well which meant the three would enter a playoff.

On the 1st hole, all three players made par and the second hole is a medium length par 5 measuring at 500 yards. Vestby found a way to make birdie on the hole and that gave him his first-ever Club Championship title at the Swan River Golf & Country Club.

"It was definitely a relief, I felt that it was a long time coming," said Vestby. "It was really nice to drain that putt and get it done."

Chez has played professional golf in the past and Patzer has won the title multiple times in the past.

"Both of them are tremendous golfers. They’re also great people, it was a fun ride and I'm glad I had the chance to battle it out with them," offered Vestby.

Tanner says he'll play in a couple of local tournaments including the Stampeders scramble the rest of the way and next year, he'll be back as he looks to defend his title, one that was years in the making.

Several other golfers were named Club Champions.
