Students’ mental well-being is important to Mountain View School Division.
The staff is participating in a Mental Health First Aid Training session on February 5th and 6th.
MVSD Superintendent CEO, Donna Davidson, explained why this training is taking place.
“Part of our strategic direction is to enhance student well-being, so one of the focus areas is mental health,” stated Davidson. “We wanted to enhance student’s positive mental health through strength based approaches to learning, social and emotional development. One way to do that is to educate our staff on mental health awareness and understanding, so we’ve been providing mental health first aid training over the last couple of years.”
It provides supports to identify issues and help eliminate any stigma.
