A false alarm was issued on Saturday, about a ballistic missile heading for Hawaii, which sent many into panic.
At the time of the alert, Local MP Robert Sopuck and his wife Caroline, were vacationing on the island.
Sopuck recalls the events that unraveled during that day.
“Saturday morning my wife and I were calling up a tour operator to finalize details for the tour we had talked about the day before and the operator said to Caroline, 'we’re grounded, we’re not taking any tours now, there has just been a ballistic missile alert. We’ve been all told to stay home and quite frankly you should start to pray.' And Caroline hung up the phone and reiterated this to me and we both looked at each other and the first thought is 'this simply cannot be'."
Someone at the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency hit the wrong button, causing massive panic
