A new scam is making its way through the Parkland area.
People have been receiving texts about a refund from Manitoba Hydro as an e-transfer.
Bruce Owen, Manitoba Hydro Media Relations Officer, explains what the message looks like.
“So what it asked for is for customers to click on a link to access their account refund and in doing so to access the refund they would have to submit their personal banking information,” noted Owen.
Manitoba Hydro doesn’t send texts for refunds and will only send messages about overdue accounts to those who signed up online for them.
