A teen who willingly gave a D-N-A sample to police investigating the death of a girl in a remote Manitoba First Nation has admitted that he killed her while sexually assaulting her.
The 17-year-old male pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the killing of 11-year-old Teresa Robinson in May of 2015.
Teresa disappeared after leaving a birthday party in Garden Hill but wasn't reported missing to R-C-M-P for six days and it was initially believed she'd been killed by a bear.
Crown and defence lawyers say they will recommend the teen be sentenced as a youth when court reconvenes February 5th.
They will also recommend the maximum youth sentence of 10 years -- six years in custody followed by four under conditional supervision in the community.
