A child has died after falling into a water holding tank yesterday.
It happened around 3:15 in the afternoon. Blue Hills RCMP received a report of a child in a water holding tank in the RM of Whitehead. When police arrived on scene, the child was being removed from the water tank by the fire department. The victim was walking in a farmyard, with supervision, when she stepped on the lid of the water holding tank, knocking it off and falling in. There was water at the bottom of the tank, approximately 20 feet down.
The 14-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
