Last night emergency crews responded to a three vehicle accident in Brandon.
Around 8:30 last night the early investigations indicates that a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a 27-year-old man was west bound on Kirkaldy Drive and collided with a small SUV driven by a female as she was making a North bound turn onto Cater Drive. The Pontiac Grand Prix then collided with a Minivan driven by a female that was eastbound on Kirkaldy Drive. Extensive damage was done to all 3 vehicles.
STARS transported the driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix to hospital in Winnipeg with severe injuries. He remains in hospital and serious condition. In total, nine people were involved in the accident with six people transported and admitted to hospital. This included a 5 year old who sustained a head injury but is in stable condition.
Speed, alcohol and drug use are believed to be factors in the accident with charges against the male driver of the Pontiac Grand Prix pending. The investigation is ongoing.
