The Medd House was the focus of the Manitoba Association of Museum’s award to the Winnipegosis Historical Society.

The WHS was in Winnipeg to receive the award for their significant work in restoring and preserving the building and the stories of the Medd house and Family. Pauline Riley, president of the historical society talks about what is special about the Medd house.

“The Medd House is the only 2 story wooden building that was built in 19 hundred. It’s still a standing building in good repair. We were given it by the Medd family. They lived in it from 1914 up through the 60s and then they retained it as a summer home. And we were given it in 2011, we were given the house and some of the furnishings and a large amount of information and objects related to Doctor Medd. He was the first doctor in Winnipegosis.”

This isn’t the first time the historical society has won. Back in 2014, they received the Award of Excellence for the conservation and preservation of the CN Railway station Museum built in 1897.

The Medd house is one of 8 places of historical significance in the Winnipegosis area.
