The Annual Riding Mountain Challenge Bike Tour Fundraiser began at 9 this morning.
The challenge takes place over the 2 days this weekend.
Cyclists leave from Dauphin to Clear Lake early this morning and arrive back in Dauphin tomorrow.
Director of Development for the MS Society Ilona Niemczyk explains the route riders will be taking.
“Riders start at the Dauphin Rec Centre, the Parkland Recreational Complex on Saturday, September 9th. They head out onto the road at 9 just going down the main road, Main Street in Dauphin, heading up into the Mountain. There are 4 rest stops along the way. They are the natural rest stops in the park, and then they go up into Clear Lake as well. Just close to Ta-Wa-Pit Drive there’s a big white tent there we’re going to have and cyclists can have lunch there and leave their bikes. And then continue on in the afternoon. On Saturday night we have a dinner at 6 o’clock. On Sunday cyclists head out again from Clear Lake and they head back down the mountain stopping at the same 4 rest stops along the way down and then ending up at the rec centre.
A minimum of 300 dollars donation was needed to for this important fundraising event for MS research.
