Eight First Nations’ girls are heading to the United States for the opportunity to play elite hockey.
The girls from Cross Lake, Norway House Cree Nation, Berens River First Nation, Birdtrail Souix First Nation and one from northwest Ontario. The girls will be moving to Boston Massachusetts.
The girls will be playing for the Boston Shamrocks in the Junior Women's Hockey League, which is comparable to the Western Hockey League here in Canada.
Over the past weekend the girls hit the ice in Manitoba for one last time before heading south to the east coast.
Training camp begins on Aug. 26.
