Today marks the tenth anniversary of a massive hail storm that left significant damage in the Parkland.
Hail was the size of baseballs and winds gusted up to 98 kilometers.
Bev Birss-Winniski, of Birss Greenhouses, recalls the damage their business had from the storm.
"We lost all our roofs that day because it looked like someone had gone through and shot it up but it had been punched through with holes. Luckily, like, our season was over so we didn’t lose any crop, but most of the time you try and stagger redoing your roofs, so I know it impacted us and the other greenhouse in town that you are redoing all the houses now in one crack instead of staggering them over a couple years."
The damage estimated to the greenhouses was approximately $20,000.
