Many communities across the province are receiving funding from the province for road projects.
The municipality of Clanwilliam-Erickson is receiving 60 thousand dollars. Quinn Greavett Chief Administrative Officer with the municipality of Erickson talks about the projects the grant will be funding.
“We did 3 blocks of First Ave SW. We actually excavated it 2 and a half feet and repaved. That one was budgeted I think, just shy of 100 grand. So the program works on 50 cent dollars. So the project cost, I think, 99 thousand 406 dollars, so they’ll give you half that. So we basically have 49 thousand dollars towards that project. And then the other one we repaired a rural road called Road 99 North. And we will use the remaining funds to pay it towards that.’
Denis Saquet, manager of operations for the town of Neepawa talks about the project the community will be working on.
“Government is assisting us with our Kellington Street Renewal. We did a full water sewer renewal last year on that street, and it’s all prepped up for paving a new curb and gutter. So that grant for the municipal road improvement, program municipal road and bridge program will assist us with covering the cost of street renewal.”
Neepawa will receive 50 thousand dollars for the project.
