The provincial government is investing 12 million dollars for municipal roads.
The minister responsible for municipal roads, Eileen Clarke, announced the funding today.
The city of Dauphin will see 225 thousand dollars invested into four projects. Bill Brenner, Director of Public Works for the city, speaks about the projects the city was approved funding.
“One project is the reconstruction of 1st Ave SW, that will be the second block between 1st Street and 2nd Street just past the skate park. The second project is Laura Street reconstruction. The third project was 2nd street SW mill and overlay, so that’s new pavement only on 2nd street SW from 4th avenue to 10th. The final project was some mill and overlay on several streets: Davidson Ave, Mountain Road to Sandy, 5th Ave SE 1st to 2nd, 6th Ave SW 1st to 2nd as well.”
Other municipalities and towns that will see funding for roads are Ste. Rose, the Municipality of McCreary, the Municipality of Mossey River, Sifton, and Gilbert Plains with 60 thousand dollars each. Russel Binscarth will receive 100 thousand dollars for a paving program. The Town of Neepawa will receive $50,000.
