The City of Dauphin is making improvements to deal with the potential increase of Manitoba Hydro.
Hydro is hoping to raise rated 7.9 per cent annually for the next 5 years.
C-A-O of the City of Dauphin Brad Collett talks about what the city is doing today to offset potential cost increases in the future.
"We've been very proactive because we do use a lot of hydro so we are looking at more energy efficiency for example we're changing to LED light bulbs, we're installed solar systems for some of our larger uses and we are just trying to be proactive in case they do go up that much," noted Collett.
The city has recently installed a solar system at the lift station, with plans to install more in the near future.
