U-pick farms around the province are busy serving people wanting fresh fruit.

For farmers in the industry, there is an association that helps promote their product. The Prairie Fruit Growers Association helps fruit growers in both Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Angie Cormier executive director of the Prairie Fruit Growers Association talks about a resource berry farmers can use to grow their business.

“How we grow fruit here in Manitoba is very different from how it’s done in Ontario and very different from how it’s done in the States. A lot of people go onto the internet to get their idea on how to grow things and that’s not necessarily how it works here in Manitoba. So I always try to encourage, here purchase the manual, read it, if you think that you still want to do  then we will continue on with the process.”
