A Brandon East MLA is looking to establish a bill that would assist the police in locating wandering adults with cognitive impairments.
Bill 214 was introduced by Len Isleifson earlier this month, and was debated at a second reading on Tuesday.
According to Isleifson, the idea behind the bill, came from his experience in health care.
"Bill 214 deals a lot with my past in health care where I worked for Prairie Mountain Health. I was responsible for emergency services, and we had a code yellow internally, for patients who went missing. So, I thought it was logical to assist our aging population, when we have adults with cognitive impairments who go missing, we need a tool for the police to use to find them sooner."
Isleifson added that, the 'Silver Alert' legislation would be the first of its kind in Canada.
